Hell on Earth: The 10 Worst Diseases

My first best friend died from muscular dystrophy. The first patient I ever saw in a hospital as a mere orderly was suffering from pain, agony, and distention. He was a fairly young man who had colon cancer.

I have been frequently horrified at the level of suffering that people have to endure. It is incredible the horror that can be inflicted upon human beings.

Several times I've started a list about the 10 worst diseases. The hell on earth that people endure. It is going to feel running thread with me. I will have to update the list periodically.

Colon Cancer

Colon cancer quotes from follow:

Cancer of the colon is a highly treatable and often curable disease when localized to the bowel. Surgery is the primary form of treatment and results in cure in approximately 50% of the patients. Recurrence following surgery is a major problem and is often the ultimate cause of death.
Incidence and Mortality
Note: Estimated new cases and deaths from colon cancer in the United States in 2014:[1]

  • New cases: 96,830 (colon cancer only).
  • Deaths: 50,310 (colon and rectal cancers combined).

Prognostic Factors
The prognosis of patients with colon cancer is clearly related to the following:
  • The degree of penetration of the tumor through the bowel wall.
  • The presence or absence of nodal involvement.
  • The presence or absence of distant metastases.
